Senior Accounting Associate
Overview
The Senior Accounting Associate manages assigned client relationships with minimal oversight and serves as the primary point of contact for routine accounting matters. This role provides accounting and advisory support to multiple clients, delivers high-quality financial information, and helps identify solutions to accounting challenges in a fast-paced, client focused environment.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage accounting and bookkeeping functions for multiple client engagements simultaneously.
- Prepare and review general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting scheduled.
- Perform month-end and year-end close activities for assigned clients.
- Prepare and review financial statements and management reports.
- Analyze financial information and identify discrepancies, trends or issues requiring attention.
- Communicate directly with clients regarding routine accounting questions, requests, and deliverables.
- Manage assigned client relationships with minimal oversight while maintaining a high level of responsiveness and professionalism.
- Assist with onboarding new clients and transitioning accounting services into firm workflows.
- Collaborate with members of the accounting team and firm leadership to resolve complex accounting matters.
- Provide guidance and technical support to Accounting Associates and other team members as needed.
- Maintain compliance with firm standards, accounting principles and client confidentiality requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiencies, and client service delivery.
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and tax-basis accounting.
- Ability to manage multiple-client relationships, deadlines, and competing priorities simultaneously.
- Strong knowledge of financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to find and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Highly detail-oriented, organized, and committed to accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Advances proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal oversight while exercising sound professional judgement.
- Demonstrated commitment to exceptional client service and relationship management.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or client accounting services experience.
- Experience managing multiple client engagements simultaneously,
- Public accounting, outsources accounting, or multi-client experience.
- CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA licensure preferred
- Experience with Sage, Great Plains, NetSuite, or similar accounting platforms a plus.

Must be able to operate a variety of machines and equipment, including computer, office equipment, telephone, etc. Tasks may require extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
